 About the Artist

Sarah is a wife, mother, and artist.  She and her family are proud to call Birmingham their home.

Being a mom on the go, Sarah loves the accessibility of watercolor. Painting watercolor traditionally on paper is ideal when running around with four active children. Many of her paintings on paper are painted en plein air while taking in the scenery and feeling of the atmosphere around her.

She also loves to work with large gallery-wrapped canvases.  Not deterred by convention, Sarah paints in layers of watercolor and absorbent ground on large and small canvases.  Once her canvas works are complete, Sarah seals and varnishes them in several layers to ensure they are archival without the need for glass frames.

Sarah’s canvas paintings have the transparency of watercolor, the texture commonly found in acrylic paintings, and the beautiful enhancing sheen of varnish.  Her work ranges in subjects from impressionistic botanicals and landscapes to pure abstraction focusing on graceful movements.

She is inspired by moments of peaceful embodiment and hopes her art creates a place in time to breathe more deeply, hope more fully, and remember the wonder of being alive here and now.
